Lithium battery separator matrix materials mainly include polyolefin material and non-woven materials. Polyolefin membranes have excellent mechanical properties, chemical stability and relatively cheap characteristics, but the temperature resistance of polypropylene / polyethylene is limited and the appropriate working temperature is lower than 150. In order to further improve the ratio of energy to lithium batteries, the thickness of the film must be reduced, the liquid absorption rate of the two-dimensional pore structure is reduced, and the safety of the battery is affected again. Therefore, in order to meet the needs of high power and high power fast impulse discharge, the non-woven fabric with 3D pore structure has become a research hotspot. 

Nonwoven fabric membrane materials usually use polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyimide (PI), aramid fiber and so on. The heat resistance is obvious. All of the above look good non-woven fabric lithium separator, they have one thing in common, they are not large-scale commercial applications. Suburbanization believes that the most important reason is price. The cost of non-woven fabric diaphragm is usually above 10 yuan / square meter, while the price of middle and high grade membrane after coating is about 5-6 yuan. Besides, there are several factors that affect the popularization and application of non-woven fabric diaphragm. 

1., the general tensile strength of non-woven fabric diaphragm is low, so it is difficult to be applied to high speed winding process. The laminated process has relatively low strength requirement for diaphragm tension, and the non-woven fabric diaphragm is more suitable for laminated process. 

2. the diameter of the diaphragm is larger and the larger aperture brings excellent multiplier performance, but it also causes the battery's self discharge, and has a potential impact on the high temperature and storage performance. 

3., the application of non-woven fabric diaphragm requires that the existing lithium battery production process be changed, and diaphragm cutting, baking temperature and liquid volume should be adjusted. 

So, if there is no non-woven lithium battery separator development prospects? ASIACHEM considers that not all. The reasons are as follows. 

1., three yuan cathode material, large power lithium battery is an important development trend of new energy vehicle power source, and its safety is particularly concerned. On the large three element power lithium electric power produced by the stacked process, the nonwoven membrane has advantages over the polyolefin diaphragm in the safety, multiplying performance and service life. In the future, with the development of power lithium industry and the further improvement of diaphragm performance, the non-woven fabric membrane can occupy a place. 

2., with the increase of production, the cost of non-woven fabric diaphragm is decreasing.
